2021 was surely the year of Jonny Greenwood, as his phenomenal compositions for Pablo Larrain's Spencer, PTA's Licorice Pizza, and Jane Campion's The Power Of The Dog were just some of the best film scores released. Yet with the latter, Greenwood's score for The Power Of The Dog was probably his most masterful yet––echoing a more somber, moody, and somewhat sinister nature that carried off into what audiences were seeing in the film.

Fitting perfectly with every scene, the score was a complete deviation from what we are used to hearing in most Western films. Greenwood's unique take on the Western genre is what makes for an intriguing listen that seeks to unnerve even the most devout of listeners. It's exactly the intention of what was meant to be conveyed, and that's what makes it well deserving of all the acclaim it's been awarded by critics & award circles. Highly recommended!
