Considered as one of the most prominent composers of our generation, the movie maestro Hans Zimmer has crafted a number of scores which are some of the best in recent years. With Denis Villanueve's Dune, Zimmer developed three albums for the film––and all of them are absolutely amazing. Utilizing heavy percussion, female choirs, and hybrid instruments to compose the scores, the sounds from Dune are perhaps Zimmer's most unorthodox and experimental yet due to the otherworldly nature of it's sound.

Unlike the soundtrack, The Dune Sketchbook features the main motifs of the score alongside extended versions of tracks which serve as the backbone for sounds of the film. Majority of these tracks go above 7 minutes in their runtime, yet every bit of their sound stays reminiscent of the desert planet Arrakis. Some themes are more ambient in nature, while others are sweeping and intense enough to mimic the rush of certain scenes on screen. Yet overall, Zimmer's work for The Dune Sketchbook is what gives us the closest look we can have into his creative process via sound.
